Whats All This Hype About Oprahs Weight Gain

I’m sure you have already heard all of the hype lately about Oprah’s weight gain. This is just the latest for Oprah, of a long history of weight struggles. Since the beginning of her career in the spotlight, Oprah has been on a roller coaster of weight gain and loss. For the most part, she has been overweight. But a few years ago, she seemed to have gotten control of her weight and slimmed down drastically. She also managed to keep it off for quite awhile. So what happened??

According to her, Oprah’s weight gain of 40 pounds recently can be contributed to a hypothyroid disorder. This is a disorder in which the thyroid gland doesn’t produce the correct amount of certain hormones. It tends to affect women in particular, and especially those older than 50. Oprah is currently 54 years old and has just recently been diagnosed with this disorder. Hypothyroidism also causes a multitude of health problems other than weight gain, including painful joints and heart disease. (Click Here To Avoid The Same Fate As Oprah !)

While Oprah’s weight gain has just recently hit the 200 pound mark, this is certainly not the heaviest she has ever been. At age 38 she reached her highest weight gain, at 237 pounds. She then managed to slim down to a very fit and sexy 160 pounds in 2005, and it seemed she had complete control over her diet and weight. She even began having weight loss segments on her show, sharing her method of success.

Oprah also blames this weight gain on her hectic schedule as well. She says that she is “mad at herself”, and “embarrassed”. Oprah’s weight gain always gets so much media attention that it makes it even more difficult for her to deal with, creating more pressure than ever to shed this newly gained weight. She plans on starting a new weight loss program to slim down and get healthy again and she is working with her doctor to control her hypothyroidism.
